Our History
Elcom was founded in Sydney in 1996 by John Anstey, as part of ATP Innovations, a technology incubator co-founded by leading Sydney universities.
The first project had nothing to do with intranets. Elcom advised the Australian Tax Office on the strategy for online tax filing, and helped build the first e-tax return system. Millions of Australians filed their returns online for the first time because of that work. The core idea behind it was simple: good technology should reduce complexity, not add to it.
That idea stuck. John steered Elcom toward web content management, and the company became one of ATP Innovations' standout success stories. Over the years Elcom grew from a small Sydney team into a specialist platform used by organisations across multiple industries, with 60+ staff across Australia and India.
25 years in, we're still privately held, still based in Sydney, and still run by people who care about whether your platform actually works.
