See how We've transformed

Shore School

As one of Australia’s leading schools, Shore has educated and nurtured young and curious minds for over 135 years. Our commitment is to ensure that every one of the students in our care receives a holistic education that prepares them for whatever path they may choose to follow in life.

The Challenge

Elcom originally designed our website years ago, but as trends and business needs evolved, we recognised that the previous website was no longer reflective of the school’s current identity. The previous website also tried to cater to all audiences, mixing information for prospective and current parents and staff, resulting in an overwhelming experience that didn't effectively serve its purpose. It became clear that a refresh was necessary.

Our goals were to make the navigation more easily accessible not only for prospective parents, but prospective staff, while better reflecting Shore's offerings for these audiences. We aimed to create an engaging experience for those exploring our school community through virtual tours and inspiring stories presented in a simple, user-friendly way.

With strong support from the School Council and Executive Leadership Team, we started on the project to modernise the website, with the launch timed to align with the external recruitment of an incoming headmaster.

After years of working with the Elcom team, our expectations were already high, and they absolutely met them. We can’t praise the quality of their work and their level of professionalism enough. They've truly helped us deliver a website that we're very happy with. Sarah Taylor Director, Community Engagement

The Solution

We held a series of three all-day workshops with various stakeholders from the school community. Key outcomes from these workshops shaped the new website's direction. These included streamlining the enrolment process explanation to make it more digestible for prospective parents and providing more compelling and relevant information for prospective staff members. Throughout the development, we continued to work closely with stakeholders to ensure the end result met their needs.

Shore's longstanding and positive partnership with Elcom made them the natural choice for this website project. Together, we successfully brought the vision for the new website to life.

It was a huge effort to turn this project around with the limited amount of time we had, but Elcom did their part exceedingly well. Their passion and energy for great outcomes was evident throughout the project. Their collaborative approach, coupled with their expertise and responsiveness led to a smooth delivery of the website.

We have greatly simplified the navigation on the website to make it much easier for people to find what they need. The previous website was trying to cater to all audiences, with information relevant to prospective parents and staff members, but also for current parents, staff and Alumni. We made the strategic decision to relocate internally focused information to appropriate channels, creating a cleaner, more intuitive interface for prospective parents and staff. We've also made the enrolment pathway explanation simpler for people who are taking that step on behalf of their child.

A key enhancement to our new website is the integration of engaging visual content. We've embedded more videos throughout the site, including exciting virtual tours of our campuses and facilities. This addition makes it a more compelling experience for people trying to find out more about the school, which is particularly valuable for overseas and regional families. It means they can come to the site and find all the information they need without having to invest in physically coming to the school from a great distance. This can help with their decision-making process as to whether they send their child here for Boarding.

Understanding the importance of our international community, we’ve also made the decision to develop a Mandarin version of the site. This micro-site will feature core pages translated for Mandarin-speaking prospective parents, facilitating informed decisions for families from Asia and multi-generational Australian families who may prefer Mandarin.

We've revamped our careers section to provide more detailed information about the benefits of working at Shore. This includes highlighting our collaborative environment, sense of community, and prime locations in North Sydney and Northbridge. By making this information more accessible and engaging, we're better equipped to attract top talent to our school.

The Benefits

Modern design reflective of Shore’s identify

  • The new website significantly enhances our ability to communicate Shore's values, offerings, and community spirit to our key audiences. It now authentically reflects Shore's identity, giving visitors a true sense of what it's like to study or work here.

  • The website is visually compelling, featuring engaging virtual tours of all our campuses and facilities. This not only enriches the user experience but also provides a comprehensive and accessible way for families, especially those overseas or in regional areas, to explore the school. It allows them to gather all necessary information without the need to physically visit the school.

Improved information for decision-making

  • The website provides more accurate, accessible, relevant and compelling information for prospective parents and staff members, helping them make informed decisions about studying, living, or working at Shore. The feedback so far has been very positive.

  • The addition of a Mandarin microsite caters to our international community and supports multi-generational decision-making.

  • The enrolment process is now much more simplified, making it easier for parents to follow simple steps and guidance when they decide to enrol their child.

  • Prospective staff members can now easily access detailed information about working at Shore, supporting their career decisions.

Promoting our well-rounded education

  • We've tried to convey that students at Shore receive a holistic education targeting the head, heart, and soul, and that our staff support this approach. We've embedded this message throughout the site through examples and storytelling. For instance, when we talk about the heart, we've given clear examples about how we support students through character education and our service-learning projects.
