Summary

The Resources & Infrastructure Industry Skills Council (RIISC) needed an Internet/Extranet website to assist it both in asserting its identity as a peak, not-for-profit body and in fulfilling its obligations to its stakeholders.

The client

The Resources & Infrastructure Industry Skills Council is a national not-for-profit organisation whose main role is to facilitate the Vocational Education and Training (VET) needs of all stakeholders in the resource and infrastructure industries.  It is charged with developing and implementing a flexible VET structure that meets both industry needs and the rigorous Australian educational and regulatory criteria. The Council sees itself as a “one-stop-shop” offering advice, consultancy, research, information, strategic planning and innovation for skills needs to the resources and infrastructure industries. In addition it provides advice to industry, Federal, State and Territory governments and government regulatory, training and other agencies.
The situation

RIISC wanted to bring a sharper, more marketable approach to the specific industries that it caters for. There had been slow growth, lack of employment awareness and a general neglect of self-promotion throughout the schools and colleges in Australia. RIISC needed a state-of-the-art corporate website with an inbuilt content management system that could provide it with the opportunity to capture data, distribute information, target new audiences and facilitate its day to day operations.

The solution
