Austrade
Austrade - The Australian Trade Commission – is a statutory authority within the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Its purpose is to assist Australian companies to win business for their products and services on overseas markets and to this end it has representations in more than 50 countries including Australia.

The Requirement
Austrade wanted a content management portal from which it could launch its main site as well as satellite sites as and when needed. The content management system needed to be flexible enough to allow the sites to look and feel different from one another not just by colour and graphics but by menu types, page layout, CSS selection, and by the use of tickers and banners. In addition each site’s style had to be “enforceable” on the content creators. The sites also had to have a wide range of functionality including: searching, version control, banners, business matching, events management, form creation, mailing lists, workflows, site personalisation and more.
Elcom’s challenge was to provide a wide enough range of flexible options to allow the sites to be distinctive and to enable these options to be “locked in” so that content creators could not breach the site specific styles.
Elcom met this challenge by using its flagship product CommunityManager.NET and exploited the versatility inherent in its plug in modules.
The Solution
The Austrade portal and satellite sites are powered with Elcom’s CommunityManager.NET and a wide range of plug-in modules.
This enabled Elcom to meet all the requirements of the project, on time and on budget.
