Elcom at the Internet Show

Elcom exhibited at the Internet Show in Melbourne on 13-14 April 2010 and is pleased to announce that the event was a great success!

There was an outstanding flow of traffic to the Elcom stand and attendees were keen to find out more about the CommunityManager.NET Platform. Attendees were predominantly business development managers, marketing managers and website managers from various midsize and enterprise organisations and there was overwhelming interest in learning about the extensive internet and intranet tools that can be managed through CommunityManager.NET. eCommerce was another hot topic at the event with many businesses wanting to find more about facilitating online sales.

“The buzz around eCommerce suggests that this is going to be a growth area in Australia over the next 12 months,” said Anthony Milner, Product Director, Elcom. “We had a huge amount of interest in CommunityManager.NET because it enables online sales to be managed seamlessly from the same platform as existing web assets.”

Social media was another major talking point at the Internet Show with attendees wanting to know more about how they can utilise social media to manage and promote their brands.

“Companies are aware that they need to start thinking about social media but they are not sure how to take the first step,” said Angus McDonald, Technical Director, Elcom. “They need to decide whether their brand is suited to social media engagement and, if so, what they want to achieve through this type of outreach. A good first step is to think about blogging, which can be facilitated easily through the CommunityManager.NET Platform.”

The Elcom team delivered a number of well attended presentations at the show. It held a CMS clinic which was very popular with attendees. Elcom experts were on hand to provide advice on business websites.

“We noticed some common themes at the clinic. A number of businesses are still outsourcing their web content maintenance to third parties. This seriously impacts the speed at which websites can be updated,” said Anthony Milner. “However, this issue can be easily resolved by bringing web content management in house with an easy-to-use system like CommunityManager.NET.”

Angus McDonald presented on Enterprise 2.0 and discussed how social media tools can be used within an organisation to untap the passion of the workforce and foster creative problem solving. “Social media is a great way to drive interaction within organisations,” said Angus. “It helps teams to think creatively, allowing meaningful solutions to emerge and evolve over time. The issues that are close to the heart of your business cannot be outsourced and using social media engagement within your business can keep staff engaged and enable organisations to work together to develop new areas of competitive advantage.”

In the final presentation, Angus McDonald teamed up with issociate’s Louise Kanis to discuss how their start-up business partnered with Elcom to build a new social network for associations. There was a great response from attendees who were interested in hearing, in real terms, what was required to get this project off the ground.

The feedback from attendees was very positive and we look forward to announcing the details of the next events we will be attending. Thanks to everyone who visited us at the show.
