Australand

Summary

Australand recognised that a new system was required to ensure the business remained a leader in the property and housing industry. Australand required a property management and content management system that would enable multiple users to update pages on the site facilitating the increased promotion of their portfolio. Elcom Technology’s Community Manager.NET was able to meet these requirements whilst exploiting the many modules available to provide the Australand system with better functionality.

Elcom’s successful understanding and execution of the project has revolutionised the way Australand operates in the online world, by providing a unique solution, on time, on budget.

The client

Australand is a diversified property group, involved in the development of residential land, housing and apartments, development of and investment in income producing commercial and industrial properties, ,and property management. An ASX 100 company, Australand was listed on the Australian and Singapore Stock Exchanges in June 1997. Australand has been involved in property development for over 80 years and employs approximately 640 people. Australand, a retail investment vehicle, has operations in Sydney, Melbourne, South East Queensland and Perth, and Hong Kong to service the Asian market.

The situation

Australand’s previous website did not fulfil the business requirements of allowing the stakeholders to maintain and promote their property portfolios to their target audience. Australand wanted a system that would enable all the stakeholders to maintain their online presence to interact with other stakeholders that engage with the business. The system required strategic and efficient management of workflow and content.
The challenge/business requirements

Elcom’s challenge was to provide a well rounded system that catered to specific Australand needs. The Australand site required a system that would provide reliable and strategic user management, so that administration could authorise various stakeholders to access and edit different pages on the site.

These requirements included:

  • Providing a system that would become the primary communication tool for all stakeholders interacting in the business
  • Property/Asset Management module to list individual properties for sale as well proper provision of improved information services at reduced costs using a managed subscription to electronic newsletters.
  • Facilitation of the management of all facets of the internet site including content and design.
  • Ability to control a website and an extranet from a single administration facility
  • Multi-dimensional security and access levels
The solution

The solution was to create a real-estate portal for the business having extranet and intranet functionality.

Elcom’s Community Manager.NET allowed for the easy access and editing of content by authorised users. The security and user access controls ensured that data integrity and information privacy was at its highest standard.

DESIGN

The Australand site evolved into a ‘portal’ enabling the quick navigation throughout the site. The Elcom design team architected a wireframe of the entire site and produced a series of conceptual designs based on best practice usability and modern look and feel. This resulted in the stylish, uniformed colour system that assisted the user in distinguishing the area of the site they were navigating through.

DEVELOPMENT

Elcom’s development team developed a Property / Asset management module to cater for the needs of Australand. This was achieved through requirements workshops, documented and designed functionality, and quality assurance implementation; on time on budget.
